Do you ever find yourself, at the end of the day, asking “Where did today go?” or “Why do I feel like an entire day passed and I got very little done?”

We’ve all been there.

It’s one of the reasons I created a weekly planner and scheduled a recurring weekly Sunday appointment with myself to plan out each week and decide what my priorities, deliverables and focus blocks would be… and it’s taken me a long time to create a system for organizing my time that maximizes my output while minimizing my susceptibility to SOS (Shiny Object Syndrome).

What’s the secret to my productivity?

It’s not a secret. It’s time blocking.

Time blocking is a simple (and classic) time management technique that works.

While To-Do lists tell you what needs to be done, time blocking gives you a clear picture of what to do, when to do it and for how long. When you use time blocking, you’re dividing your day into blocks of time.

Each block of time identifies three things:

1. What deliverable needs to be done

2. What time you will work on the deliverable
